The quieter middle of the peninsula

If Tomaree Head is the postcard, Boat Harbour to Fishermans Bay is where the Coastal Walk feels less like a village footpath. Whale season lookouts here are often calmer than the summit car park at 11am.

Big Rocky is an optional side trip on official Day 1 notes — low tide is the operator window for rockpools.

Iris Moore, whales, Morna Point

Iris Moore lookout and picnic area is signed as an accessible, relatively easy vantage — often a better whale platform than dragging mixed ages up Grade 5. Fishermans Bay and Boat Harbour are the other official seasonal lookout cluster (May–November, sightings never guaranteed).

Morna Point is flagged in park materials for spring wildflowers. There is no dedicated official distance/grade page we could confirm — treat signed distance on the day as the authority, not a second summit.

Kingsley Beach works alert dropped

NPWS local alerts re-checked 12 Oct 2026 no longer list track works at Kingsley Beach. The earlier notice ran 17 Aug 2026 to 12 Oct 2026. That is not a promise the track is clear — follow signs if staff or contractors are still there. Anna Bay office 02 4984 8200. This is a snapshot, not live.

FAQ — Boat Harbour

Tap a question to expand the answer.

Is this a 4WD area?

Day-visitor points here are generally 2WD sealed. 4WD is the Samurai campground/beach access, not a general park requirement.

Where should I whale-watch if the summit car park is full?

Fishermans Bay, Iris Moore and Boat Harbour are the official lower-effort lookouts. Slot Canyon lookout is on the Birubi–One Mile stretch. Sightings are never guaranteed. Do not lean over unfenced rock for a better photo.
